My name is Jonathan Blackhall. I am an Anesthesiology resident in Milwaukee, WI. This is my blog, where I ramble about technology, medicine, free software, personal finance, and other random stuff. If you’d like to know more about me, either personally or professionally, or to contact me, see my personal site.
“Encephalosponge” is a word I made up as a sort of play-on-words, thinking it was a good word to describe myself. The Greek root encephalo- roughly means “pertaining to the brain,” and I’m assuming you know what a sponge is. I used to think my brain was something like a sponge because I loved to soak up all the knowledge around me. Now I think it sounds a bit silly, but I keep it for posterity.
This blog is a continuous work-in-progress. I use it to capture my thoughts on whatever I feel like writing about. It’s usually some combination of WordPress, Ubuntu, book and music reviews, medicine, and personal finance. It might seem a little scattered, but I guess that’s because my interests are scattered too. I’m trying to focus the content down into a few discreet topics. I like to write when I’m feeling inspired, and this blog also gives me an excuse to write.
I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! –Patrick Henry to the Virginia House of Burgesses (1775)
