It's states a lot of the things i've been thinking the past couple years i've been working with Ubuntu. I agree that 8.10 was definitely a step backwards and i'm glad it wasn't just me. The problem I have is that I am a gamer and I have all my syncing stuff for the iPod touch on Windows. So while i prefer surfing the web on linux since it's so lightweight, i still can't ditch windows for those reasons. I do use it mainly on my laptop though since it doesn't have the gaming power and i don't us it as my "hub" for my ipod. So essentially, my laptop has no problems dealing with linux. The new distro definitely doesn't work with my wireless card which made me switch back to 8.04 but i guess i'll just have to deal with that. Anyway, nice post and maybe give Fedora a try if you haven't already to see if you like it. I've only messed with it a little bit, but from what i hear it's definitely right up there with Ubuntu. I like Ubuntu's organization a little better, but i'm sure you can tweak Fedora to make it work with however you like it. Great article.
