Wubi

I just read a great little article on the new Wubi (Windows UBuntu Installer) installer, found on the new Ubuntu Live CDs. Looks like they’ve really nailed it. Now switching from Windows could not be any easier for non-technical users.

  1. Turns out that Vista made a nice little bug for Wubi at the last minute to give funny errors to anyone trying to use it. Why is the first thing I thought of that they did this on purpose? If you want to try Ubuntu by using Wubi and you have Vista SP1 installed, simply download the stand-alone Wubi installer.
